How We Meet: Yuko Mohri & Ei Arakawa-Nash [group]

Few people know that Bochum also played a role in establishing Fluxus artists. In 1970, gallery owner Inge Baecker (1943–2021) founded a gallery for avant-garde art opposite the Kunstmuseum Bochum, where she wrote a chapter of art history that gained international significance. After her death in 2021, she bequeathed her estate, including an extraordinary collection of Fluxus artworks, to the Kunstmuseum. At the end of 2025, a major two-part exhibition will take place to honor the estate and present it for the first time, together with contemporary artists and local partners.
